The Order of Gift characterizes the approach by which I desire to sanctify the temporal order—working to restore all things in Christ and offer my artistic gifts in service to His honor and glory, that He may be All in all. Over the years I have drawn inspiration for this approach from many sources, both Scriptural and literary. As I have come to appreciate more deeply how our Lord invites us to take Him at His Word, the desire to entrust myself to His providence has never left me.
For many years I tried to offer my services merely for whatever each person may give—each as his heart prompts him and according to his means and devotion (cf. Exodus 35-36). As viability of this approach as a livelihood has not materialized as I hoped it would when I began, I hope that as platforms such as Patreon have become familiar, a similar model here may flourish.
In return for a year’s commitment to any membership level in the Providence Guild, I offer a discount on anything you care to commission me to make.
However you are moved to support me in my work, thank you!
The Order of Gift
“And why should I desire the Fixed except to make sure—to be able on one day to command where I should be the next and what should happen to me? It was to reject the wave—to draw my hands out of Maleldil’s, to say to Him, ‘Not thus, but thus’ to put in our own power what times should roll towards us … as if you gathered fruits together today for tomorrow’s eating instead of taking what came. That would have been cold love and feeble trust. And out of it how could we ever have climbed back into love and trust again?”
“All is Gift. ... Through many hands, enriched with many different kinds of love and labor, the gift comes to me. It is the Law. The best fruits are plucked for each by some hand that is not his own.”
(C.S.Lewis, Perelandra)
